Biography
For over a dozen years Crystal Loucel has served as a bilingual and bicultural public health nurse within the San Francisco Bay Area. Crystal obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from UCSF and a Master in Public Health from Loma Linda University with a Global Health Major. Since 2019, she has been certified as a Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) and a Health & Wellness Nurse Coach (HWNC-BC). She is passionate about improving chronic disease through fitness, nutrition, and health disparities research. In her previous roles, she worked as a Heart Failure nurse, Diabetes Educator, and as a Cardiac Rehabilitation research nurse for the HEART-ACT study at UCSF focused on reducing cardiac risks for breast cancer survivors of color through health education and physical activity. She now works as a diabetes research nurse for the PARADIGM study which does islet transplants for patients living with type 1 diabetes.
