Biography
Adam Brown, MA, LMFT (California #146387) has lived with type 1 diabetes for 25 years. He is a therapist in private practice in San Francisco, supporting people with diabetes, anxiety, trauma, and other difficult life experiences. Adam served as Head of Diabetes Technology & Digital Health at Close Concerns and Senior Editor/Columnist at diaTribe.org through 2019. He is the author of Bright Spots & Landmines: The Diabetes Guide I Wish Someone Had Handed Me; to date, over 300,000 copies have been sold/downloaded. As a diabetes advocate, Adam has brought a patient perspective to many high-profile public venues, including FDA and NIH meetings, ADA, CDCES, Diabetes Canada, Breakthrough T1D chapters, and beyond. Adam earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute in 2021 and completed his clinical training in high-acuity teenage eating disorders. He has extensive training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is currently involved in multiple studies that aim to impact diabetes distress.
