Biography

Rachael began her nursing practice in 2006 as a Cardiac Intensive Care Nurse, and this is where her passion for the Metabolic Syndrome began.
Her background as an NP for the past 8 years has been in Diabetes, Endocrinology, Primary Care, and Population Health in the outpatient clinic settings. Prior to this she also served as an NP in Neurosurgery and Spinal Care. She has over 18 years of Nursing experience including 34,000 hours of experience in direct patient care, within multiple hospital and clinic settings in St. Tammany, Orleans, and Jefferson Parishes within South Louisiana.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2006, followed by her Master’s degree in Nursing in 2011, both from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.
She received her Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license as an NP in Adult Health along with Prescriptive Authority in 2011.
She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2011. She now holds licensure as a Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education. She currently serves on a clinician expert advisory board for Dexcom and enjoys public speaking, but secretly likes to network and learn from others! She enjoys teaching as an adjunctive LSU School of Nursing Instructor for their adult health clinical practicum within local hospitals.
With the support of family and her patients, she is opening up the first only Diabetes Clinic in the State of Louisiana: The Diabetes Collective located in Mandeville, Louisiana.
